Head To Head
This is the simplest form of NRL. betting, where you wager on which team will win the match. The odds reflect the perceived strength of each team, with favourites having lower odds and underdogs offering higher potential payouts.
Handicap (Line) Betting
Handicap betting levels the playing field between teams of different strengths. The favourite team is given a negative handicap, meaning they need to win by more than that margin for the bet to be successful. Conversely, the underdog receives a positive handicap, allowing them to lose by less than the given margin or win outright for the bet to come through. For example, the Warriors might have a line of -6.5 against the Wests Tigers. The Warriors would need to win by 7+ points for the handicap bet to land, while the Tigers could lose by six points and cover the line bet.
Margin Betting
This involves predicting not only the winner, but also the winning margin. For example, the two main margin bets in the NRL are 1-12 and 13+ points. This means you need to pick a team to win and the correct margin.
Try Scorer Markets
- First/Last Try Scorer: A high-risk, high-reward bet on which player will score the first or last try of the match.
- Anytime Try Scorer: A more conservative option, betting on a player to score a try at any stage during the game.
Total Points (Over/Under)
Bet on whether the total points scored in a match will be over or number a specified number. It's important to consider factors such as weather conditions, team statistics and recent form when placing these types of bets.
Prop Bets
There's numerous types of singular prop bets you can make in NRL games, such as which team will score the first try or how many tries a particular team will score.
NRL Same Game Multi Betting
NRL Same Game Multi betting is an exciting and popular way to wager on the sport.
Some of the popular NRL Same Game Multi selections you can include in your bet are:
For example, if the Penrith Panthers were facing the Melbourne Storm, you could place the following bet:
This betting option allows punters to combine multiple bets from a single game into one wager, increasing the odds and potentially your payout.
Some of the popular NRL Same Game Multi selections you can include in your bet are:
- H2H
- First Tryscorer
- Anytime Tryscorer
- Total Points
- Winning Margin
- First-Half Result
By combining these selections, the odds are multiplied, offering the potential for higher returns if all legs of the bet are successful.
For example, if the Penrith Panthers were facing the Melbourne Storm, you could place the following bet:
- Panthers Win
- Under 42.5 Total Points
- Brian To'o Anytime Tryscorer
- Xavier Coates Anytime Tryscorer
Those four selections would likely come to odds of around $20. Placing particular bets can also help increase the odds. For example, if you've selected Under the Total Points option but also pick various anytime tryscorers, the odds will jump as you're backing two options that technically cancel each other out.
NRL Bet Of The Day
With eight games taking place from Thursday to Sunday over the course of a typical round, it can be tricky to identify the best bets to be backing - but that's where we come in.
Our team of NRL experts scan through all bet types for every single game of the season - whether it's a simple H2H bet or picking out some value with an anytime tryscorer, we take our time to find the best bets on offer.
