NRL Round 5 Betting Tips: Sharks to Bite in Thursday Opener

NRL Round 5 Betting Tips
There are some terrific NRL games this week and we have NRL Round 5 betting tips, starting with Raiders vs Sharks on Thursday night.
Raiders vs Sharks
The Raiders started fast but they have come back to earth with some disappointing results. The Sharks are a much better team, which is why I’m confident of them winning and covering the spread.
The NRL spread is only -3.5, which has been confidently backed, and that’s with good reason. I can’t see the Sharks losing to the Raiders in this situation.
Panthers vs Cowboys
Life hasn’t been easy for the Panthers, but they get some key players back in the team. Nathan Cleary is the most important player for any team in the NRL, and they struggled in his absence. However, a bounce-back effort is on the cards against a poor Cowboys team.
The current line is -12.5 for the Panthers, and although that’s a big form reversal, it’s on the cards on Friday night.
Rabbitohs vs Roosters
It’s always a good game between the Rabbitohs and Roosters, with NRL betting markets opening the Rabbits at $1.66. The Rabbitohs have been solid so far, and although they have some injury problems, so do the Roosters, and they even each other out.
This game is a flip of the coin for me, but based on what I’ve seen over the last few weeks, the Rabbitohs are playing with more heart, and the Roosters’ lack of second-half scoring is a big concern.
Eels vs Dragons
Knowing what the Eels and Dragons will produce week-to-week is anyone’s guess, but the Dragons are built for success. They have a solid team on paper, and although a losing culture has infiltrated them in the last few years, 2025 could be the year of the Dragon.
It’s certainly not the year for the Eels, who have yet to do anything, and although they get some players back in the team, they need more to revert to their winning ways. Take Dragons -4.5.
Titans vs Dolphins
The battle of Queensland should provide NRL punters with some excitement on Saturday, and I’m backing the Titans to prevail. I have been impressed with their recent wins, and they’re playing with more confidence than usual.
The opposite applies to the Dolphins, who have struggled. We have no doubt they’ll win a game soon, but I’m not interested in the +5.5 line for the underdog.
Broncos vs Tigers
I don’t rate the Tigers on bit, and neither does the betting market this week. They are +16.5 underdogs against a Broncos team that should put them to the sword, and it could be over from the outset.
It hasn’t been a vintage year for the Broncos so far, but they’re still warming up. They pulled away from the Dolphins to win 20-12 last week, and a similar performance is enough to put the Tigers away and cover the spread.
Sea Eagles vs Storm
Despite losing to the Dragons in wet conditions last week, I’m backing the Storm to bounce back and show why they’re the best team in the NRL. They have no weak links in the team, and with the conditions being different here, they should get back to their best.
I’m not discounting the talents of the Sea Eagles, who are tough to beat at home, but the Storm are good enough to cover the -5.5 spread.
Bulldogs vs Knights
Leading the NRL are the Bulldogs, who continue to win tight games. That is a good asset to have, and punters never know what the Knights will deliver, but usually, it’s nothing much. Therefore, I’m backing the Bulldogs to win easily.
Covering a -6.5 line isn’t easy, but this game could come down to attitude, and that’s something the Knights don’t often turn up with.
